Let Our Imagination Run Wild – Storytelling Tour
Family Literacy and Cross-generational Reading
Making reading a regular fun family activity is one of the main goals of the Let Our Imagination Run Wild – Storytelling Tour run by the NET Section. The tour, which was launched in 2018, takes place in various venues including kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, shopping centres and public spaces all over Hong Kong. Parents look on as their kids are read stories by the NET Section storytelling team in an active, engaging way using drama, song and improvised fun.
Children learn to read at school but they learn to love reading on their parents’ laps. Family literacy is an essential part of a child’s development because it nurtures the love of reading and strengthens the bond between parent and child.
In our programme, the storytellers take children on an imaginary trip to meet and interact with the amazing characters in the stories chosen. They tap children’s imagination and creativity with hands-on activities to make the characters come to life. Participating children are immersed in an exciting and interactive world of fiction where possibilities abound and future dreams are formed.
