English Storytelling for Children
English Storytelling for Children in Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL)
The English Storytelling for Children programme started in the 2015/16 school year. It has been very successful in promoting family literacy and sparking the imagination of our children.
It is a collaborative project between the NET Section and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), which provides opportunities for NETs to bring their creative arts to the wider community and give back to that community.
The storytelling initiative has been very popular and has been going from strength to strength ever since its inception. Through these sessions we can host enjoyable and interactive book-sharing experiences for children and concurrently offer NETs an opportunity to connect with local communities beyond the school environment.

Bilingual Storytelling for Ethnic Minority Children
The English Storytelling for Children programme has expanded to make reading opportunities more inclusive since 2018/19. Bilingual storytelling sessions in Urdu, Nepalese and Hindi have been organised in public libraries to cater for the needs of ethnic minority groups. These storytelling sessions recognise and value the first language and the culture of these children.
