Secondary School-based Support Services

The Regional NET Coordinating Team (RNCT) at the Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Section provides School-based Support Services for secondary schools in Hong Kong to support the implementation of the CDC English Language Education Key Learning Area Curriculum Guide (Primary 1 - Secondary 6) (2017) (including the optimisation of Senior Secondary English Language) and the Enhanced NET Scheme in Secondary Schools.

Through the support, which can be provided either on-site or online, we hope to:

  • help secondary schools trial, refine and adopt effective learning, teaching and assessment (LTA) practices that are in line with the emphases of the English Language curriculum in Hong Kong;
  • promote sustainable professional collaboration within the English Language panel; and
  • promote the sharing of effective LTA practices. 


In the school-based support, the RNCT:

  • advises teachers on effective LTA practices in the area of support requested by the school;
  • co-plans with teachers to develop learning and teaching resources  and units of work;
  • delivers school-based workshops;
  • identifies links between classroom learning and opportunities for authentic language use in the school-based co-curricular programmes;
  • facilitates the setting up of physical and/or online networks for the sharing of ideas and resources among schools receiving support in similar areas of the curriculum;
  • offers advice on setting up school-based or inter-school competitions to promote the creative and authentic use of English; and
  • dispenses advice on the use of community resources to extend students’ English language learning beyond the classroom.

If your school would like support in any of these areas, or an area not listed, please complete the application form and return it to the NET Section.

Upon receipt of your application, we will contact your English Panel to discuss your school's needs and possible mode(s) of support, which can be face-to-face and/or online, depending on the circumstances.
