Interface - Building Teachers’ Capacity to Address Interface Issues Concerning English Learning and Using English to Learn at Key Stages 2 & 3

This Seed project, which commenced in the 2015/16 school year, will continue to equip students to use English as a medium of learning and to raise teachers’ awareness of the importance of Key Stage 2 (KS2) and Key Stage 3 (KS3) curriculum articulation in planning a holistic school-based English Language curriculum.  With the better use of IT, teachers could design authentic and challenging learning activities to enrich students’ learning experiences and support their literacy development.



The Seed project aims to enhance teachers’ ability to:

  • use multimodal and multi-genre texts on different themes to enhance students’ exposure and their reading and writing skills, to prepare students for learning in English, and to promote language learning across the curriculum;
  • use e-resources to  cater for students’ diverse needs and to facilitate  English language learning and teaching;
  • be aware of how the use of IT could be better integrated into English learning and teaching practices;
  • strengthen the articulation between KS2 and KS3 in the planning of the school-based curriculum; and
  • understand  the  interface  issues  through  professional  development  activities, school networks and learning communities.


Through the Seed project, students’ English learning experiences will be enriched, and they are expected to acquire self-directed learning skills and develop a positive attitude towards English learning.
