Guided Reading 'Lite' Videos

To ensure that students are receiving guided reading instruction (at their level with appropriate books) during these times of learning from home and half-day school, the NET Section has created online guided reading lessons. These do not require teacher instruction and can be used by NET Section Primary Literacy Programme as well as non-programme schools.

Guided reading is a teaching strategy best used face to face with individually tailored materials, plans and the opportunity to “teach in the moment”. However, the NET Section is aware that both teachers and students are currently time-poor. One stop-gap alternative until normality returns to the classroom are “guided reading” videos for Space Town Literacy Programme and PLP-R/W schools. These videos will support students through reading levelled books whilst applying decoding and comprehension reading strategies. Below is a link to a collection of video resources that could be made available to students or used as inspiration for developing guided reading materials. These Edpuzzle videos (with embedded questions) were created using a variety of online platforms and software. The links can be shared with students.
